Why Antimicrobial Matters Part 1 – Puppies Immune Systems

What is a microbe?
A microscopic organism, such as bacteria, fungi, microscopic algae, protozoa, and viruses.

What does antimicrobial mean?
A chemical treatment added to the Potty Park to reduce/eliminate the growth of common bacteria, fungi, yeast, mold, mildew and odors.

We all love and adore our new puppies and welcome them into our homes until they are of an age to go to their new owners and families. But are we providing them with the safest living environment? Because puppies have not yet had their required vaccines at the earlier ages, their immune systems are more susceptible to viruses and disease.

It is vital during this increased time of risk that you provide your puppies with cleanest and safest environment possible. The antimicrobial Potty Park provides you puppies with the safest possible toileting area hands down!

Several of the diseases and viruses that represent the most harm to your puppies during this time include:

Parvo
Parvo is highly contagious and is spread by direct contact with infected animals or their environment. The virus can be transmitted through fecal material or vomit on clothing, collars, food and water bowls, bedding etc. The virus is resistant to heat, cold, humidity and drying and can survive on objects and in soil for up to 5 months and longer. Moreover, it can hitch a ride on doggy feet or on the bottoms of shoes so thorough cleaning and disinfecting is imperative.

Distemper
Canine distemper virus is shed in all body secretions from infected animals; most animals catch distemper by breathing the virus in. Dogs may catch distemper by sniffing a wild animal’s excrement, eating or drinking from a dish or pool where an infected animal has been, or merely by being near an animal that’s infected. Pregnant female dogs who are infected with distemper may pass the disease onto their pups.

Kennel Cough
Kennel Cough is caused by an airborne virus which is highly contagious. It is not unusual for all dogs in the same household to become infected because micro-organisms are present in the aerosol produced from the coughing. Such an attack is most likely to occur when a dog spends time in close quarters with many other dogs. Dogs that attend dog shows, groomers, veterinarian clinics, boarding kennels or travel frequently have a higher risk of developing kennel cough than dogs that stay at home most of the time. The disease can spread rapidly from one dog to another.

Canine Coronavirus
Canine Coronavirus is a highly contagious virus caused by dog feces that is ingested (licked, inhaled or eaten) by your dog. There are several ways to catch the virus including direct contact with another dog such as when they are smelling each other, licking the ground, or touching infected feces
